TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR THE COMMUNITY CCTV CAMERA PROJECT/OFFER.

Valid Till 30th November 2025.

1) To obtain a community camera in your street, five new (5) clients will be required to sign up with Crime Watch SA for Monitoring and Armed response. Once all 5 are signed up Crime Watch will install a camera between the second and third instalment

*of the monthly Monitoring and Armed Response subscription.

2) Clients who subscribe to the Community CCTV Camera Project will be subject to a one-year contract with Crime Watch SA. After the one year, the contract will automatically switch to a month-to-month basis.

3) The location of the camera will be decided jointly by the signed-up clients and Crime Watch SA. In any dispute, Crime Watch SA will make the final decision based on the best coverage of the street and homeowner.

4) Crime Watch SA will monitor and maintain the camera and equipment (except internet Line) at their cost for a period of 2 years from the date of installation. This is limited to the replacement of any equipment after warranty of up to R 500.00 cost per item. 

5) All equipment remains the property of Crime Watch SA.

6) After year 2, a monitoring and maintenance fee will be added to the monthly subscription.

7) After the first year a minimum of five (5) clients per street that are associated with each camera installation are required to maintain the camera installed and monitoring service. If the number of clients drops below five (5), the remaining clients will be responsible for covering the shortfall or finding a new member. Alternatively, should the number of clients fall below this threshold, Crime Watch SA may choose to relocate the camera within our CCTV network.

8) The selected property, as agreed upon by the signed-up clients and Crime Watch SA, must provide internet and electricity. Note: In the event of loadshedding or power supply issues, the signed-up clients must provide a backup power supply such as an inverter / UPS, otherwise the camera will be in-operable.

9) The internet speed must be at least 30 Mbps per camera, uncapped and unshaped and maintained at this level or higher.

10) A Mikrotik firewall device will be installed to protect both the client’s and Crime Watch SA’s networks.

11) Crime Watch SA will not vet residents who access the cameras; approval is the responsibility of the signed-up clients.

12) All residents must sign a non-disclosure agreement to access the street cameras. Only Crime Watch SA clients’ properties will have access to the cameras.

13) Only Hikvision cameras will be installed, as they are the world’s leading video surveillance brand. These cameras are reliable and come with a one-year warranty. Note: Where necessary, the camera range will be updated as new technologies are introduced.

14) This offer is valid until the 30th November 2025.
