How does my alarm company communicate with Crime Watch SA to do the response?
If you decide to continue with your current alarm monitoring company, but would like us to respond to your alarm, then your monitoring company will contact our control room. All calls coming in and out of Crime Watch SA are recorded for security purposes. They will need to confirm:
- Your customer code
- Your address
- Your zone/s that is/are activated
- Your special instructions
How does Crime Watch SA respond to an alarm activation/incident?
The control room will despatch the armed response vehicle to your property, and he will carry out a thorough check of the premises as far as he is allowed to do. Any irregularity will be reported immediately to your monitoring company. If an incident is taking place, Crime Watch SA will supply additional vehicles in support of the officer.
If suspects are found on the property, our priority will be to detain them and secure the premises until you or one of your registered keyholders arrives.
Are your response officers fully armed?
Yes, all our armed response officers are trained and carry a firearm.
How many response vehicles do you have?
At the time of writing, we have 7 vehicles within a 6km radius of our offices near Milpark, Koeberg Road.
Does Crime Watch SA offer alarm monitoring and response services?
Yes, we have a fully operating control room. By entrusting both monitoring and response to Crime Watch SA, you eliminate delays caused by communication between separate companies – ensuring faster, more efficient action.
Do I need an alarm system to qualify for this service?
No, you do not need an alarm system. We will respond to calls, as well as alerts from the Crime Watch SA mobile panic app if you have it. If you are interested, please contact our sales team.
Can I upgrade to include alarm monitoring later?
Absolutely. You can switch to a full monitoring and response package at any time – feel free to contact our sales team.
Is there a contract or minimum sign-up period?
We do not hold clients to long-term contracts against their will – we want you to be happy with our services. Therefore, we only require one calendar month’s notice.
Can this service be used for business or just residential properties?
This offer is available for both residential and business premises.
Will I receive a board for my property to show I’m protected?
Unless you do not want one, Crime Watch SA will supply a board for your property.
