Armed Response

Have questions about our Armed Response services? Our armed response services provide fast, reliable protection from a trusted private security company, ensuring your safety during emergencies and potential threats. Here are some of the most common queries we receive – with clear, honest answers to help you stay informed and feel secure.

What is your response time?

It is illegal for us to predict exact response times, as they depend on factors such as traffic conditions, alarm priority, and unique circumstances. However, you can refer to our suburb pages for average response times in each area.

Does an Armed Reaction Officer have powers of arrest?

In South Africa, a reaction officer has the same legal rights as any ordinary citizen and can make a citizen’s arrest. However, they are well-versed in the Criminal Procedure Act and understand when and how to exercise their rights appropriately.

I have been told that the best way to test your reaction time is to press my panic button, is this true?

We strongly discourage this practice, as it is technically a breach of contract. A panic signal is the highest priority and should only be activated in a genuine emergency. One of the most prominent challenges in the armed response industry is false alarms. The main concern is that responding to false alarms delays our ability to reach real emergencies, potentially leading to serious consequences. Additionally, there is a substantial cost involved – both in terms of the unnecessary stress caused to the reaction officer, who is uncertain about the situation they will face, and the cost of despatching vehicles multiple times, which impacts the company significantly.

I have automated gates, high walls and electric fencing – how will the Armed Response Officer/s get into my property?

We offer unique "Gate Receiver" systems and key safes that provide us with access to your property. These are commonly used in the industry and within complexes. For more information on pricing, please contact our sales department.

Will the Armed Reaction Officer/s escort me to my premises if I am nervous?

Yes, we offer this service to our clients. If, on the rare occasion, you’re feeling nervous, our Armed Response Officer/s will meet you and escort you to your premises to ensure your safety. Please note that alarm activations take priority, so we kindly ask for at least 30 minutes' notice.

What is the cost of the Armed Response Officer escort services?

This service is generally free for our clients, taking the circumstances into consideration. However, for regular or scheduled services, please contact our sales department.

I see your vehicles parked on the side of the road, why do they not patrol all the time?

Our vehicles are constantly patrolling, unless they are engaged in special operations or observing specific behaviour, often in collaboration with our community CCTV cameras. Standdowns also serve as a deterrent to potential criminals.

At times, the Armed Response Officer may be on a rest break during their shift, as required. We encourage them to take their breaks within the suburb they are patrolling to maintain a visible presence, rather than returning to the control room.
